Mental Health Service Coordination

Many people who use human services are involved in more than one system. Every systems has eligibility requirements, rules, and regulations that are often confusing.

The Butler County Base Service Unit (BSU) ensures the services available to individuals with mental health or substance abuse needs are coordinated in the best interest of the person.

The Clarion County Mental Health Base Service Unit (BSU) provides intake, assessment, referral and administrative case management to persons with a mental health diagnosis. All service authorizations are requested by the Base Service Unit and approved by the County Mental Health Deputy Administrator.

The Washington County Base Service Unit (BSU) provides intake, assessment, referral and administrative case management (ACM) to persons with a mental health diagnosis. The BSU serves as the first point of contact for those seeking behavioral health services. ACM supports children, adolescents, and adults with a behavioral health diagnosis in gaining and maintaining access to needed medical, social, educational, and other services. Other services available include: forensic liaison, hospital liaison, and forensic case manager.

These request are re-authorized annually based on each person’s own individual needs. If you are without insurance or your private insurance does not cover your mental health services, please call the Base Service Unit for assistance.

CCR has a team of Service Coordinators who collaborate, coordinate, and make referrals to providers from various systems (Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol, Criminal Justice, Hospitals, Employment agencies, Medical Assistance and other government agencies).

Service Coordinators can:

  • Provide a thorough clinical assessment of the individual, which can be used to help identify strengths and needs
  • Identify providers of desired services in requested locations
  • Help organize services so they are easy for individuals and families to use
